THE PROJECT

Rokstad Power was selected by Manitoba Hydro to conduct the removal and disposal and installation of 61,250 new spacer dampers on the existing Bipole I & II 500 kV HVDC transmission line under live line conditions. Crew members and their equipment were helicopter hoisted onto the line using a Bell 212 helicopter. This process plays an essential role in increasing Rokstad Power’s productivity to allow for completion of the work in a short period of time. The helicopter method also avoids environmental impacts by limited ground-based access requirements.
