Location: State of New York, US
Details: Emergency storm response
Completion Date: October 2012
In October 2012, Hurricane Sandy, the most damaging storm to make landfall in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut tri-state area, cut power to more than 8,000,000 people. Rokstad Power assembled one of the largest international contingents to assist with the relief program. In total, 23 line crews with more than 100 personnel were deployed from British Columbia and Alberta in a convoy to New York State. The first call to action was in Brewster, New York where heavy winds and rain had downed trees and power lines. After restoring some of the power outages to the inland residents, the crews moved on to Long Island.
Crews were required to mobilize in a short amount of time and travel across the continent and across an international border. An exceptional level of coordination was required both internally, as well as with all stakeholders.
Over 100 personnel with equipment and vehicles were mobilized in a short amount of time and traveled a long distance to deliver services in the United States.
Rokstad Power crews successfully restored power in the area and solidified a standing relationship with the client.
